In today’s world, we are confronted with upheavals of various kinds. The current exhibition at the KAW—Kunsthaus am Wald in Behrenwalde addresses this relevance with its upcoming exhibition, which opens on September 19, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
“Displacements” has various levels of meaning and can refer to breaks, upheavals, or tensions. Fault lines can occur in tectonic, social, and psychological contexts, as well as in cultural and economic structures, and can refer in particular to current social and (geo-)political tensions, as well as to human-caused existential threats, such as those posed by climate change.
The exhibition features works by 11 artists from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Berlin, and the U.S. who address the exhibition’s overarching theme in various ways and explore it artistically through painting, drawing, photography, collage, and objects.

The exhibition is part of KUNST HEUTE—experiencing contemporary art in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A joint project of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK-MV), the Association of Art Museums, Galleries, and Art Societies, the Literature Council, the Association of Castles, Estates, and Mansions in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Nordkirche.
