Eastern Rock from 3 Decades
DIE OSSIS are five musicians who have played—and continue to play—in various bands and who were actively involved in the GDR rock music scene of the late ’70s and, above all, the ’80s. Admittedly, the band name DIE OSSIS and our stage outfits—featuring FDJ shirts, pioneer blouses, and police and army uniforms—seemed a bit provocative back then, but that was exactly our goal. We wanted to cause a stir—and we succeeded! Later, the fantastic singer Carie van Heden joined us, allowing us to greatly expand our repertoire!
From September 2004 to the present, we’ve played about 750 concerts. The highlights were undoubtedly three concerts in front of hundreds of thousands of people at the Brandenburg Gate on “German Unity Day”! A gigantic setting. But the concerts on the Hutberg stage in Kamenz during the R-SA Summer Festivals—each drawing around 10,000 spectators—also remain unforgettable. We’ve also enjoyed opening for well-known bands like Karat, City, Münchner Freiheit, and Purple Schulz—and, of course, performing on countless large stages at city and town festivals, as well as in theaters, cultural centers, and clubs across Germany.
Since 2008, we’ve called our program “Ostrock Deluxe”!
Since then, we’ve also been actively collaborating with very well-known singers from the old Ostrock scene. The list ranges from Michael Barakowski (may he rest in peace) to IC Falkenberg, Dirk Zöllner & Andrè Gensicke, Tino Eisbrenner, Günther Fischer, Werther Lohse, Dieter “Quaster” Hertrampf, Andre Herzberg, Veronika Fischer, Claudius Dreilich, Muck, Mike Kilian, and Wolfgang Ziegler.
