Four weeks, two bicycles, 40 canvases, and a tent: In May 2026, artists Arkadij Blinow and Juliane Borths set out to explore southern Italy by bicycle and translate their impressions directly into paintings. The results of this journey will be on display at the Musikwerkstatt starting November 6 under the title “Desire Path Through Italy – Part II.” The starting point of the approximately 1,200-kilometer tour was Agropoli, where their first joint art journey by bicycle had ended in 2024. From there, the route led through Calabria and Sicily to the foot of Mount Etna. The works tell the story of a journey in which landscapes, encounters, light, and movement became the starting points for artistic processes. The opening reception will take place on November 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The evening will begin with an introductory talk by art historian Sara Neimög, who, together with the artist, will guide the audience through the exhibition and its artistic contexts. Italian music will accompany the opening. The culinary experience will also take visitors to southern Italy. The exhibition will conclude with a closing event and auction on November 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the exhibition one last time and purchase selected works at the auction. The following day, November 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., the artists of ATHLETICS of DESIRE invite you to a plein air workshop. Together, they will share their approach to working outdoors and demonstrate how the immediate surroundings, the changing light, and one’s own perception can be translated into images. Participants will learn the basics and techniques of plein air painting and have the opportunity to try them out for themselves under guidance and deepen their skills step by step.
