Bad Doberan Minster is located on the European Route of Brick Gothic, close to the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Built in the 13th century, the high Gothic church of the former Cistercian monastery is considered the "Pearl of Brick Gothic". It has the richest medieval interior of any Cistercian church in Europe and is therefore of high international standing.

Members of the Doberan Monastery Association provide information about the history of the monastery complex on the large monastery model, the monastery landscape and the monastery paths through MV. A digital tour of the monastery can be started here. Since summer 2025, a terminal in the visitor center has also been available for comprehensive information.

The farm building is a brick building of monumental proportions, located southwest of the monastery church and, like the latter, was built around 1300 and only destroyed by arson in 1979. The Wallbach stream, which was artificially created by the monks, flows through the adjoining mill building to the west. Since 2017, the Backhausmühle has once again been home to a grist mill and a power generation plant. An exhibition provides information on the water management of the former Cistercian monastery in Doberan. Guided tours are offered by the monastery association's mill group.
