A photo exhibition on life in Waren around 1900
In the summer of 2024, the Waren (Müritz) Town History Museum received mail from the south of France. The contents exceeded all expectations - well over 300 top-quality photos from Waren and the surrounding area from the years after 1900. A real treasure! This is probably one of the oldest, if not the first amateur photo album from our region. The pictures not only show our town over 100 years ago. They also give us an insight into the life of a middle-class family at that time.
Reproductions of many photos from the album are shown on 20 posters. The focus is on previously unknown views of our town. The motifs and the high quality of the photographs allow visitors to travel back in time to the town of Waren after 1900.
The exhibition will be opened in the presence of the photographer's great-granddaughter, who owned the album. The processing of the photo album will also be presented in a short lecture.
How do you find out exactly which places are depicted? When was the photo taken? Who was photographed and what other background information is available?
