Curtain up for “Life, Love, and Lore of the Irish Travellers”: The Danceperados of Ireland are dedicated to the Irish Travellers—an isolated minority with fascinating customs and a rich tradition of music and dance. They once traveled across the country by horse and covered wagon, shaped by family solidarity, superstition, and a unique cultural heritage. Many of Ireland’s most prominent musicians and dancers come from their ranks. The fact that Irish folk music remains alive today is also thanks to their unwavering commitment to their traditions.
The Danceperados tell the moving story of the Travellers through rousing live music, expressive dances, and a stunning multimedia presentation. The result is an authentic experience that touches and inspires.
Everything is performed live—both the music and the dancing—without playback or technical tricks. Spontaneity, improvisation, and genuine passion make every performance unique and create a thrilling atmosphere.
The ensemble features some of Ireland’s finest dancers, with a combined total of over 40 World Dancing Champion and All-Ireland titles. The choreography is by multiple World Champion Michael Donnellan. Musical direction is provided by accordion virtuoso Eimhin Liddy, accompanied by a quintet of award-winning musicians.
