Jacqueline Boulanger and Susi Koch - two of simply the best singers in the area of North Germany - and the two private dancers Tobias Morgenstern and Wolfgang Schmiedt perform the great songs of Tina Turner in their own way, imaginative, harmonious, surprising!
How can you imagine Turner's songs with these
3 instruments - a roaring accordion sound, jazz rhythms from inside the guitar and aesthetically
soulful interpretations by two singers. A creative development process has produced something wonderfully idiosyncratic that constantly paints new stylistic pictures.
This results in the sound pattern of the
"Tina Turner Tango" quartet.
Anna Mae Bullock, born in Tennessee in November 1939, grew up in Nutbush and died in her adopted home of Küsnacht near Zurich in May 2023, became a global star and legend as Tina Turner. From 1958, she performed alongside her husband Ike Turner for almost two decades. After separation and a private abyss, the tour for the album "Private Dancer" in 1985 was her breakthrough and outstanding comeback as a solo artist. A legendary performance in 1988 in Rio de Janeiro in front of more than
180,000 spectators earned her an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. In 2009, the singer with the unmistakable timbre went on her last world tour. This tour was the grand finale to an extraordinary career. With over 180 million records sold, countless number 1 hits and chart positions, Tina Turner remains an unbeatable role model for strength, perseverance and courage, standing for emancipation in its best sense like no other artist.
Jacqueline Boulanger (vocals) is often called "The Jazz Voice of the North". The singer with the changeable timbre has performed at various festivals in Germany and Scandinavia, including with the jazz ladies Ruth Hohmann and Uschi Brüning. Her current album "Reach Out" has just received excellent reviews on various portals. As a cultural ambassador, she represented her adopted state of MV at the state ceremony for the Day of German Unity 2024. She also works as a cabaret artist, theater actress and is the host of her own talk show format "Jackie - Die Mischung macht's" or "Jackie On Tour".
Susi Koch (vocals, violin), singer from Rostock, is a prominent voice in the North German music scene. She performs nationwide and internationally with her own projects and various formations, teaches privately and at schools, leads choirs and workshops and can be seen in interdisciplinary productions between jazz, pop and theater. She has received several awards for her artistic work. Her voice combines depth, expression and unconditional authenticity. She is one of the most influential artists in her region.
Tobias Morgenstern (accordeon, percussion), one of the more "quiet stars" of the German music scene, composes for film and theater, writes textbooks and playbooks, has toured with Armin Mueller-Stahl, Günther Fischer and many other musicians and artists and has already been awarded many major prizes. He has been a jury member of various international competitions as well as artistic director of the "Theater am Rand". He can justifiably be described as one of the most moving accordionists and pianists in Germany.
Wolfgang Schmiedt (guitars, flugelhorn) is equally adept as a jazz guitarist as he is in the blues and soul genres. As a theater composer, producer, university lecturer and cultural manager, he has repeatedly appeared as the initiator and organizer of spectacular large-scale projects such as the harbour symphonies, the LichtKlangNächte, the Monday and Advent balconies, Rostock Singing and many other events. He is also involved in cultural policy committees and associations and was awarded the Culture Prize of the Hanseatic and University City of Rostock in 2023.
