It clearly demonstrates how sustainable use and the protection of sensitive habitats can go hand in hand.

To mark International Marine Protected Areas Day (MPA Day), the Biosphere Reserve is hosting a ranger-led hike of about 2.5 km on August 1, 2026. On the 2.5-hour loop trail with 7 stations, participants will learn fascinating facts about the interconnectedness of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, the protection of coastal habitats, and the return of native species such as the gray seal. The tour will also explore topics such as sustainable management, rare bird species, and invasive species.

Please be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.

The meeting point is the information desk at Lauterbach Harbor.
