Volkwin Müller, Detmold | "Imagine" and Lennon's white piano ! A concert and reading about the friendship between the German graphic artist Klaus Voormann and the Beatle John Lennon with many of his immortal songs:As part of the Ratteyer exhibition 60 Years of the Beatles Album "Revolver" - The Art of Klaus Voormann, Detmold songwriter and singer-songwriter Volkwin Müller presents a musical-literary portrait of the connection between Klaus Voormann and John Lennon. In his concert reading, Volkwin plays acoustic guitar and foot drums, and interprets songs by Lennon and the Beatles in a summery, relaxed atmosphere in the picturesque surroundings of Rattey Castle.

Klaus Voormann is a world-famous musician and graphic artist who, together with Astrid Kirchherr, got to know the Beatles in Hamburg long before they became famous. He then moved to London in the 1960s and initially lived in an apartment with Ringo Starr and George Harrison. In 1966, John Lennon approached him about a cover for the Beatles album "Revolver", which he designed and which won him a Grammy. The rest is rock and pop history. He became one of the most sought-after bassists of the 60s and 70s and had hits as a member of the Manfred Mann Band. Later he was a founding member of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band together with Eric Clapton and Alan White. He was involved in milestones such as Lennon's "Imagine", Harrison's "All things must pass" and the groundbreaking "Concert for Bangla Desh", for which he received his second Grammy.

For over six decades, Klaus Voormann has been a close friend of the most famous band of all time: The Beatles. Klaus Voormann had a special relationship with John Lennon, with whom he played on numerous solo albums after the end of the Beatles era. This concert reading is about this extraordinary friendship.

Volkwin Müller's 2012 album "Strawberry Songs", on which the musician released his own interpretations of Lennon songs, stands out in particular, and none other than Beatles friend Klaus Voormann was inspired to draw an exclusive portrait of Lennon for Volkwin's CD cover.
