Caspar David Friedrich not only painted his pictures "with all his heart", his letters also reveal deep insights into his work and soul. Both come together in this concert reading: His letters, which reveal his hopes and struggles, and his paintings, which still fascinate people all over the world today. Complemented by music and songs that tell the story of his paintings and bring them into the here and now, this creative melange makes it possible to feel the intense cosmos contained in the paintings of the "Master of Romanticism".
Above all, this concert reading makes Caspar David Friedrich the man more tangible, with his dreams, visions and doubts. It opens a door from Romanticism to the present day, because his paintings still have a lot to say today. They make contact with us. Like the painter himself, this performance paints an intimate portrait of our world and fills the canvas of life with words and songs - that of Caspar David Friedrich and perhaps also: of ourselves.
