Since its foundation in 2018, Wolfgang Terne (vocals/guitar) and his fellow musicians have been presenting handmade music with pure authenticity, passion and deep respect for Peter Maffay's musical life's work.
Shortly after the premiere in January 2019 at Café Hahn in Koblenz, the tribute band sold out concerts - whether at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, at "Rhein In Flammen in Bonn" or on renowned stages throughout Germany. The enthusiasm of the audience speaks for itself: "Maffay pur was so close to the original that sometimes you didn't know whether Peter Maffay was actually on stage."
The band is one of the best in its genre and has twice been awarded first place for Best Cover/Revival Band at the German Rock & Pop Awards. They also made it to the final of the SAT.1 show The Tribute - Die Show der Musiklegenden, where Bertram Engel - Peter Maffay's drummer and member of the jury - even called their performance "better than the original".
The top-class line-up consists of experienced professional musicians: frontman Wolfgang Terne has already performed on stage with Sister Sledge, Zucchero, Thomas Anders and Max Mutzke. Nico Schliemann, one of the most sought-after guitarists in Germany. Nico has already performed on stage with Helene Fischer, Beatrice Egli and Maite Kelly. He has been strengthening the band with his virtuoso guitar playing since 2025. Rainer Scheithauer (keyboards, including Herbert Grönemeyer), Franco Zeleny (bass, PUR) and Oliver Schmandke (drums) provide the authentic foundation. Also new to the team in 2024 is Ela Querfeld, a multi-talented vocalist, percussionist and keyboardist who enriches the show.
