Concert with Jakob Gühring—“Romy, la mer et la musique”—at the Viecheln Manor House as part of the Schlösserherbst festival.
"Most of what has been written about me is a lie"—Romy Schneider.
In “Romy, la mer et la musique,” Jakob Gühring explores the legend of Romy Schneider, the South, and the Mediterranean region through music and theater. Voices of Romy Schneider, her co-stars, her film characters, and those close to her intertwine with 20th-century chansons, creating a delicate spatial composition.
The evening explores the many facets of Romy Schneider—ranging from glamour to tragedy, from longing to idealization, and from artistic excellence to profound suffering. The chansons draw on the contradictions of Romy Schneider’s character and unite the great themes of humanity through musical expression.
Jakob Gühring delivers multilingual and musically virtuosic interpretations of chansons by Yves Montand, Nino Ferrer, Paolo Conte, and many others on piano, guitar, and accordion—just as he did with his first acting-and-music project, “L’homme et la musique,” to enthusiastic audiences in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
