January 27, 2026 is the Day of the Victims of Fascism. It commemorates the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by the Red Army 81 years ago. A memorial service will be held at the Stralsund Jewish Memorial Stele at 11.00 am.
Commemoration on the Day of the Victims of Fascism
The Stralsund Peace Alliance and the Association of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime / League of Anti-Fascists invite you to a public commemoration at the Jewish Memorial Stele (Am Johanniskloster) on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11:00 am. The event commemorates the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by the Red Army 81 years ago.
For the Peace Alliance, remembering the millions of victims of Nazi terror is also an obligation for the present. In view of the current rise in racism, anti-Semitism and militarism, it is important to vigorously defend the historical lesson "Never again war - never again fascism!". Instead of a policy of rearmament and "suitability for war", we need consistent steps towards disarmament, peaceful conflict resolution and the defense of international law.

Speech on the historical significance of the day and the current responsibility for peace
Recitation of poems in memory of the victims
Musical accompaniment
Joint laying of flowers at the Jewish memorial stele
The Stralsund Peace Alliance and the VVN invite citizens to take part in the commemoration and to set a joint sign for a peaceful and humane future.
