COLORBLIND: Texts from the Blue Island
Scholarship Recipients’ Reading with Everest Girard and Silke Peters
The authors Everest Girard and Silke Peters, who live in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, will present texts and photos from their joint fellowship stay in October 2025 in a reading and discussion. Four weeks in Gedser/Lolland Falster at the BlåØ International Art Residency opened up space for creative processes—on the initiative of video artist Gudrun Brigitta Nöh and sponsored by the Rostock women’s cultural association Die Beginen e.V.
Everest Girard, born in France in 1982, has lived in Germany for 22 years and has been working as a freelance author and translator in Rostock since 2016. She writes short stories and poetry and, in 2022, founded the open-air stage terrain vague together with Claudia Schlegel and David Lorenz. In 2023, she launched the podcast VERSTRICKT UND ZUGETEXTET with Marion Skepenat. She is currently working on her first novel, for which she has received a working grant from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Silke Peters, born in 1967 in Rostock, lives in Stralsund. She is a co-founder of the Stralsund reading stage textrabatt, as well as a mentor and lecturer in the Mentoring Kunst project. For her literary work, she has been honored with, among other awards, second place in the Feldkirch Poetry Prize (Austria), working grants in Rostock and Ahrenshoop, and a working grant from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
On May 9, 2025, the Art Residence BlåØ opened as a vibrant hub for art, exchange, and international encounters on the cultural bridge spanning the Baltic Sea. One year later, the project can already look back on a successful and eventful first year. Together with scholarship recipients Everest Girard and Silke Peters, we present this special place with many photos.
BlåØ stands for active dialogue, artistic diversity, and the power of international connections—across borders.
