A sensitive homage to a forgotten love. In the leading roles: Anke Engelke and Ulrich Tukur.
Christmas coffee cinema on the 4th Advent at Latücht
Germany/Austria 2025, Written & directed by Neele Leana Vollmar, Length: 120 minutes
DA: Anke Engelke, Ulrich Tukur, Lukas Rüppel, Maria Hofstätten, Markus Hering and others.
A man and a woman, at once connected and estranged by many years of marriage, drive to a bathroom store together but in separate cars. They want to spruce up their bathroom and convert the bath into a shower. What then unfolds could almost be a Loriot sketch, in the way Tukur and Engelke exchange animosities here: she likes blue tiles, he tends towards warm pink. He accepts the sales clerk's offer of coffee, she hisses why he wants a coffee right now that doesn't taste good anyway, whereupon he praises coffee in particular and asks for another cookie. And who forgot the note with the measurements? The scene is finely balanced between tragedy and comedy, despair and bitterness. But then something happens that bursts this poison of small moments that is in every pore, because a catastrophic shock triggers long-buried, violent feelings.
The movie bar has mulled wine ready and the candles are lit in the Christmas hall.
