Director Gregory Magne has not created a tribute to the instruments of the famous violin maker, but rather a humorous film about the coming together of a string quartet.
It begins with a stroke of luck. Astrid has found the fourth Stradivarius—a cello—and can now fulfill her late father’s dream by performing a string quartet composed specifically for it. The musicians have already been selected and are captivated by the famous instruments. But what then happens in the elegant French manor house makes the initial problems seem minor. No one knows the piece, hardly anyone knows the composer, everyone has their own interpretation in mind—and there’s a lack of willingness to listen to one another. On top of that, two of the musicians were once half of a string quartet and a couple, and they’ve never spoken about it.
