Movie Weeks for Children from Preschool through 9th Grade

Summer vacation is just around the corner, and we’d like to wrap up the school year on an exciting note with a small selection of films! Under the theme “Movie Fever Before Vacation,” we cordially invite school classes and preschool groups to join us at the Latücht Cinema. If you have a movie you’d like to see, just let us know!
Our offerings:
Preschool, 1st/2nd grade:
AKIKO, THE FLYING MONKEY
Germany, 2024, feature film, 68 minutes
Akiko, a little capuchin monkey, escapes from his zoo enclosure using a remote-controlled toy plane to gather relatives in the forest and free all the caged animals, and along the way, with new animal friends—and a chase with the police—he experiences an action-packed adventure.
YUKU AND THE FLOWER OF THE HIMALAYAS
Belgium, France, Switzerland, 2022, Animated Film, 65 minutes
Yuku, a little mouse, embarks on a musical journey—accompanied by new friendships—to the peaks of the Himalayas to find the Flower of Eternal Light for her grandmother. In a cheerful and loving way, the film addresses themes such as transience, solidarity, and the joy of life in a child-friendly manner.
Grades 3–5:
LARS IST LOL
, Norway, 2024, Feature Film, 89 minutes
When 11-year-old Amanda is asked to look after her new classmate Lars, who has Down syndrome, a deep friendship secretly develops between them—until Amanda, tormented by ridicule and a mean blog, must find the courage to stand up for Lars and for herself.
MOMO
Germany, 2025, Feature Film, 91 minutes
Momo, a warm-hearted orphan girl who wins people’s hearts with her gift for listening, bravely joins forces with the Keeper of Time, Master Hora, to confront the thieves who steal people’s time—and with it, their joy of life and sense of community.

When a misunderstanding about Jordan’s shaved head unexpectedly brings him and his friend Patrick donations through their gaming stream, they let the lie snowball—until the deception is exposed and not only they themselves but also their friendship find themselves in serious trouble.
9th Grade:
SUN AND CONCRETE
Germany, 2023, Feature Film, 119 minutes
During the record-breaking summer of 2003 in Berlin-Gropiusstadt, outsiders Lukas, Gino, and Julius get caught between rival dealers while trying to buy weed and are told to pay 500 euros in protection money. To come up with the money, Lukas and his new classmate Sanchez plan a break-in at the school, which initially succeeds—but only almost.
