City Museum and Christmas Market in Bergen on Rügen: Free admission, a special guided tour, and a midissage.
On Friday, December 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., museum director Marika Emonds will lead a tour of the so-called Blauzahn Treasure for the last time before the high-quality replicas of the early medieval silver hoard leave the City Museum at the end of the year. Discovered in 2018 near Schaprode on Rügen, the hoard features an impressive collection of Oriental, Western European, and English coins, as well as ornate pieces of jewelry. Particularly fascinating are the coins minted by the Danish King Harald Blue Tooth (reigned 958–986), which gave the find its popular name. But why were these once-precious silver objects, in many cases, deliberately smashed and hacked to pieces? This mystery, too, will be unraveled during the guided tour.
