Making music, cycling, and doing good: These have been close to the choir’s heart since its founding in 1986. Every year, this a cappella ensemble sets out on a cycling tour to give challenging concerts in churches throughout rural areas. They perform four- to eight-part choral music ranging from the Renaissance to jazz. As part of its 41st charity concert tour, the Collegium Pedale Cantorum ensemble will perform at the church ruins in Dambeck on Wednesday, August 5. The concert begins at 7 p.m., and admission is free. Donations for the German Doctors e. V. association will be accepted at the exit.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the village church in Minzow, 17209 Leizen-Minzow.
For about 40 years, the ensemble has combined music, cycling, and social engagement. Every year, the approximately 25 singers travel by bicycle to their performance venues and present four- to eight-part choral music ranging from the Renaissance to jazz.
Heidrun Scherfig-Drese from the Friends of the Church Ruin Association is looking forward to this special concert evening. “The church ruins by the lake offer a unique atmosphere. Music really comes to life here in a very special way,” she says. That’s why the Friends of the Church Ruins hope many visitors will come to enjoy the extraordinary ambiance and the music while also supporting the work of German Doctors with their donations.
The program includes works by Giovanni Croce, Heinrich Schütz, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Edvard Grieg, as well as modern arrangements.
