For each event, a public figure selects books to display on the new acquisitions shelf and presents them during a conversation.
On October 22, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Library will continue its series “Aufgeschlagen – Prominent Voices and Their Books” with Günter Uecker. Each event in this series features a public figure from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern who has the honor of curating the new acquisitions shelf with book recommendations and presenting them in a conversation. Silvio Witt will be featured in October. Silvio F. Witt is a German politician and cabaret artist. He served as mayor of Neubrandenburg from 2015 to 2025. Since January 1, 2026, he has served as the Ombudsman for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The discussion will be moderated by Matthias Wehry, Director of the State Library. Afterward, attendees can browse through, read, and borrow the books discussed.
