Look over the craftsman's shoulder and gain an insight into the production of silver jewelry
Jewelry workshop with Irish roots
Jason Mac Gabhann has been based in Basthorst with his jewelry workshop Casúr Óir since autumn 2019. Casúr and Óir are the Irish words for hammer and gold. Jason has always been drawn to the old production methods. For him, crafting something unique and beautiful from precious metals with powerful hammer blows and a hot flame is a magic that can hardly be put into words, better to experience it for yourself. In addition to purchasing his forged pieces, Casúr Óir also offers courses where you can make a piece of jewelry yourself and experience the magic of transformation.
Jason's work is influenced by his Irish roots, the textures and structures of the Irish landscape and folklore. He now finds inspiration in the Mecklenburg countryside around Basthorst. He enjoys discussing commissioned work with clients. The stories, thoughts and wishes he hears flow into his works and make each piece something very personal and unique.
During KunstOffen, interested parties can visit the workshop and Jason will explain the production of a piece of jewelry in small demonstrations.
Casúr Óir is looking forward to your visit.
