Traces of World War II and the Hidden Burial Mound Necropolis—An Archaeological and Art-Historical Hike with Katrin Staude

On the former grounds of Dwasieden Castle, with its approximately 100-hectare park, there are—in addition to the military ruins, various monuments, the preserved royal stables, and various column remnants from the demolished castle, there are at least 22 legendary Bronze Age burial mounds as well as imposing megalithic tombs from the Neolithic period.

Caspar David Friedrich himself painted one of these tombs, which is known for its well-preserved condition and its large guardian stones.

The archaeological and art-historical hike covers 4 km.
