The ruins of the Damerow church are being transformed into an atmospheric concert venue. Cellist Reinhard Bellmann, born in Pasewalk, studied at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and served for many years as principal cellist of the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic.
He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician both in Germany and abroad; he also works as a lecturer. Since 2022, he has been playing a replica Stradivari cello. He is accompanied on the piano by Frank-Immo Zichner, an internationally sought-after pianist with an exceptionally broad repertoire. His award-winning CD recordings and concert tours have taken him to over 40 countries. He teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Nestled within the historic Rittergut Damerow, a former estate that is being carefully restored after decades of neglect, a vibrant place for exchange and connection is taking shape here. The village features a café with a coworking space, lodging options, and space for events and creative projects—an oasis of nature, culture, and tranquility, ideal for relaxation and inspiration.
The medieval church ruins of Damerow are located in the park of the former manor and date back to a fieldstone church from the late 13th century. It was severely damaged and abandoned as early as the 15th century; only the foundation walls remain today. The historic walls, together with the adjacent cemetery, create a unique atmosphere by candlelight for an immersive musical experience.
