The 17th European Film Festival of Generations will once again take place nationwide in over 100 cities and towns. This year, the selection process was particularly difficult for us, as we want our event to be sophisticated and thought-provoking, yet at the same time lighthearted and entertaining.
“The film festival is very popular; year after year, it attracts a growing number of people from different generations who appreciate not only the selection of films but also—and above all—the opportunity to discuss the films with others. It’s a wonderful blend of society, politics, and culture that aims to bring generations together and foster intergenerational dialogue.” That’s how Prof. Andreas Kruse, the festival’s patron from Heidelberg University, describes it. He emphasizes the excellent and careful film selection—something we can certainly confirm.
We have chosen “It’s the Little Things” by Mélanie Auffret. The runtime is 90 minutes, and the recommended age is 12 and up.
The protagonist, Alice, is the mayor and a teacher in a small French town in Brittany. She has to address many of her citizens’ concerns, and on top of that, she’s now tasked with teaching the elderly, headstrong Émile how to read and write. His ideas bring plenty of surprises and twists to village life.
