Sand Art Meets German Cult Classics—From Marlene Dietrich to Helene Fischer

The unforgettable songs of great German stars—from Marlene Dietrich (“Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt”) to Hildegard Knef (“Für mich soll’s rote Rosen regnen”) and Helene Fischer (“Atemlos”) —are interpreted in a fascinating way using the artistic medium of sand painting at the Sand Theater in your city. Love, longing, joie de vivre, and fun are the hallmarks of these German-language evergreens, which have already captivated generations of people.

Let yourself be enchanted—by the magic of timeless music and the spell of ephemeral sand art alike—at the one-of-a-kind Sandtheater.

The sand artists, known for their spectacular live sand painting shows and celebrated on stages across the country, present a one-of-a-kind live experience with “Atemlos.” As music ranging from Marlene Dietrich to Helene Fischer fills the air, magical sand images take shape on the screen—drawn live before the audience’s eyes by the masters of sand art. Every line in the sand tells a story; every image merges with the music to create an emotional journey through time, set to German cult hits.

Directed by Dimitrij Sacharow, the founder of the Sandtheater, each performance becomes a cinematic meditation on heroes, dreams, longings, and adventures. A show that touches the soul deeply.

Experience the masterpieces of a genius—told in sand. The sand artists are among the most renowned ensembles for live sand painting in Europe. Known from TV productions such as RTL’s “Das Supertalent” in 2010, the 2017 Bavarian Film Awards, the 2022 German Television Awards, and the “Carmen Nebel Show” (ZDF), where they performed alongside David Garrett, they have been captivating audiences for years with emotional sand stories on Europe’s major stages—from Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Leipzig, and Dresden all the way to Tokyo, Reykjavik, Monaco, Zurich, Vienna, Lucerne, and Amsterdam.

Led by the finest generation of sand artists—Natalya Netselya, Alla Denisova, Olga Lysytska, and Lina Li—they have created over 30 full-length shows and have already captivated more than 5 million viewers. Among their best-known productions are literary masterpieces such as “The Little Prince,” “A Christmas Carol,” and “Krabat” (narrated by Ronny Krappmann—known as the voice of “BRISANT” on ARD), Richard Wagner’s “Ring Without Words” as a live performance with the Brandenburg State Orchestra, as well as the cult fairy tale “Three Hazelnuts for Aschenbrodel,” brought to life by actor and audiobook narrator Oliver Kube.

Director and producer Dimitrij Sacharow, founder of the Sand Theater, has been staging these fascinating storytelling formats in sand since 2015, creating performances that are poetic, moving, and unforgettable.
