In the story “Mariechen’s Adventures,” Mariechen, the ladybug girl, goes on many adventures. She explores her surroundings, meets new animals, and finds true friends. Mariechen faces danger and is rescued by her friends, and she herself helps others out of dire straits. When she finds her true love, she starts a family. Here, too, dangers must be overcome. But thanks to friends and family, everything works out for the best. In the end, the family goes into hibernation to dream of a new year and new adventures.
Here, children can learn to see the world of insects and the nature around them in a new light. They experience how important it is to be there for one another. They can recognize what true friendship and helpfulness mean, and how important it is to understand others.
