On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 5 p.m., the second book in the children’s book series “The Secret of the Sea Chest—Caspar Voss on a Journey Through Time” will be presented at the Rostocker Tor.
The volume, “In the Shadow of the Yellow Lion,” transports readers aged 8 to 88 to Ribnitz in the year 1630. At the city gates, the army of Swedish King Gustav II Adolf stands ready to conquer the city. In addition to real figures from the city’s history, the main characters include the children of a fictional orphanage where war orphans and plague orphans have come together and take control of their own lives with courage, skill, and ingenuity.
Together with them and his ancestor Peter, the young time traveler Caspar Voss must overcome a series of dangerous adventures. In the process, he encounters the horrors of war, hunger, disease, and death, but also the will to survive, solidarity, and hope. In the end, the question remains whether Caspar can avert great disaster from the town.
