Baltic Sea - How does it work?
Multimedia book presentation with author Ramon Gerwien in Graal-Müritz
Whether for locals or vacationers - for many, the Baltic Sea is close to paradise. A place of longing that always promises an experience of nature. The sea, the diverse coasts, flora and fauna ... But this habitat is fundamentally endangered. And this is mainly due to human influences. Ramon Gerwien, "a child of the Baltic Sea", makes it clear in an emphatic and highly comprehensible way: it is high time to do something about this development. As with a patient, he examines the symptoms of the disease, reveals the causes and describes the consequences. But the biologist and journalist does not limit himself to presenting the status quo and does not leave us standing alone at the water's edge. Instead, he points out ways forward: How can the Baltic Sea be preserved? What measures are already being taken in this direction? And what can we all do?
Ramon Gerwien, born in Greifswald in 1982, studied biology and English to become a teacher in Rostock. He worked as a teacher in the Hanseatic city for ten years and has been a freelance journalist since 2022. He now works as an editor at NDR Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. One of his main focuses is on scientific topics, especially the Baltic Sea. Gerwien is also a singer in the band "Pallut".
