Moor discoverer
A bog right on our doorstep? In the coastal forest between Karlshagen and Trassenheide, numerous dune valleys are slowly turning into bogs—and, armed with magnifying glasses and curiosity, we can discover the first signs of emerging bogs. How can you determine the age of a bog? What does peat actually come from, and why is it so important? And which unique animals call the bog home? We’ll get to the bottom of all these questions—and more—in a fun, hands-on way!
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, bring mosquito repellent, and, if needed, a small towel—as true bog explorers, we’re not afraid to get a little dirty. This event was organized in cooperation with the Succow Foundation as part of the joint project “Together, Let’s Dare to Explore More Nature in Vorpommern.” For more information, visit: https://www.lebenslandschaft-Vorpommern.de/.
