In the hands of Olha Cheromushkina, the ancient Ukrainian art of petrykivka painting comes to life. As a much honored folk artist of Ukraine, she combines in her works a deep tradition with the modern vision of a language of color, ornament and soul.
Olha Cheromushkina began her artistic training in Petrykivka, the center of this special ornamental painting, which has been included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. She later graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Dnipro National University.
The façade painting of a church in Mariupol attracted particular attention in 2020. The painting, which covers an area of over 500 meters, stands as a spiritual symbol of the unity of faith and the cultural strength of the Ukrainian people. Back in 2014, the artist created the largest mural on a concrete fence in Ukraine, 133 meters long, in the village of Urzuf.
Olha Cheromushkina lives in Rostock and runs creative courses for children and adults at the Rostock Art School. Her works have been exhibited in Schwerin, Iserlohn and Rostock, among other places.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge from September 15 to December 19, 2025 at the following times: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm, Tuesdays 1pm-4pm and Fridays 9am-12pm as well as by appointment.
