What many people don't know: There was an oversupply of bananas in the GDR. And Popeye and Olivia go boating on the Störkanal. The singer Nico wrote the lyrics to her later big hits in Low German in New York in the 60s, but was unable to assert herself against Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground. Russian sounds really good in Low German and "Blink un Blank" refers to two things that go well together when they are thrown into a pot or, so as not to put the picture completely askew in the frame, placed on a stage. Susanne Bliemel and Thomas Naedler are "Blink un Blank". With a joint program, they only want one thing: to tell stories. Susanne Bliemel has written hers down and kept them safe between book covers, Thomas Naedler has rhymed his to a few guitar chords. The stories are told, read, conjured up and sung in Platt.
