Ornithological hike with Roland Prillwitz, certified nature and landscape guide
In the area where the Peene leaves Lake Kummerow in a north-easterly direction, the fen meadows were deliberately rewetted in order to promote ecological diversity. This measure has proven to be a valuable habitat for numerous water birds. Here, thousands of birds find ideal conditions for resting, roosting, foraging and rearing their young. In addition to more common species, rare bird species such as red-throated and black-necked grebes, spoonbills and marsh harriers have also made this area their home. With a bit of luck, majestic white-tailed eagles and impressive cranes can even be observed on the excursion.
The excursion will be accompanied by Roland Prillwitz, a certified nature and landscape guide. The meeting point is on June 6 at the parking lot in Kützerhof in the direction of Aalbude. The hike starts from there at 10 am. The event is open to the public and participation is free of charge.
Participants should bring weatherproof clothing, suitable footwear and some food for the excursion.
