Bathing on Usedom

The poor area on the Baltic Sea coast could only feed a few people, who lived almost exclusively from fishing. Tourism began to develop around 1850. Shipping across the Swine and the emerging railroad quickly brought guests to the towns. Beach chairs, piers and the development of hotels and restaurants change the towns and people on the Island of Usedom.
