The Baltic Sea Philharmonic emerged as an international orchestra from the Usedom Music Festival in 2008 and today stands more urgently than ever for a central idea: the cultural unity of all ten countries in the Baltic Sea region. This year, the ensemble is once again making a guest appearance in Peenemünde - a place once marked by war - to give a voice to the longing for peace.
The concert will be conducted by Robert Treviño. The American, who lives in Lithuania, already inspired the orchestra last year and is now deepening his love for the Baltic region with a Swedish-Russian-German triad. The soloist will be twelve-year-old cellist Charlotte Melkonian. Born in 2013, the artist is considered a true wonder; her playing is like a mother tongue with which she captivates her audience, whether in Carnegie Hall or the Berlin Philharmonie, like a mature virtuoso. Since this year, the German Foundation for Musical Life has been supporting her with a precious instrument by Stefano Scarampella from Mantua. Together with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, the Usedom Music Prize winner of 2026 will ceremoniously open our festival.
