Art:Open 2026 in Vorpommern
Matthias Berg studied architecture, but his designs rarely rest on solid ground - they prefer to float among the clouds. And yet there are some motifs that keep recurring. For example, the interaction of language, (t)space and image. What all the works have in common is the unreal, the unreal, the fantastic. I often find them beyond the human scale, on a very small scale, on a very large scale, or by detaching them from their surroundings and context. Complexity and depth, confusing diversity and chance, immersion in chaos and a longing for simplicity. Trusting in intuition and spontaneity, without fixed concepts and plans, my pictures and objects are expeditions into the unconscious.
