Under the title “Bach and Swinging Friends,” Berlin-based recorder player and clarinetist Susanne Ehrhardt and composer and arranger Rudolf Hild from Meiningen will present an extraordinary concert experience.
Rudolf Hild has reinterpreted well-known Baroque works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Philipp Telemann, and Jean-Philippe Rameau, adapting them into stylish jazz arrangements for recorder and piano. A special highlight of the evening is George Frideric Handel’s “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.” The program is rounded out by Hild’s own compositions for clarinet and piano.
The concert impressively combines the Baroque musical tradition with jazzy lightness and a joy of improvisation. This crossover project—particularly with its use of various recorders—offers a rare opportunity to experience two musical worlds in vibrant harmony. The artistic collaboration between Susanne Ehrhardt and Rudolf Hild dates back to their time as students together.
