Children's book reading and live drawing | from 4 years
Star illustrator Axel Scheffler reads some of his favorite stories and draws live!
The little mouse is out and about in the forest and everyone seems to mean well by her. The fox invites him to a jelly party, the owl invites him to tea and the snake invites him to a snake-and-mouse party. But the mouse always has a date: with his friend, the terrible Gruffalo. She only made him up, but when she describes him to her would-be hosts, they prefer to dine alone. The Gruffalo is a practical imaginary friend! - But then he suddenly turns up for real, and his favorite treat, he says, is sandwiches with a little mouse. That's not so practical. But a clever little mouse can teach even a real-life Grüffelo the meaning of fear.
Axel Scheffler was born in Hamburg in 1957 and now lives as an illustrator in London. After studying art history in Hamburg, he completed a degree in graphic design in England. His cartoons, illustrations and satirical occasional pictures are garnished with enigmatic animals, including real-life monkeys, chickens, pigs, rabbits and big-nosed characters of various origins. When he was young, he wanted to become an animal researcher - which is probably what he became in his own way. Today, Axel Scheffler is one of the most important illustrators of children's and young adult books in the world. He achieved international fame through his collaboration with the author Julia Donaldson, in particular with the picture book "Der Grüffelo", one of the most successful picture books worldwide. They received the prestigious British Smarties Prize for their work.
