"A journey through finiteness" Insights into mausoleums and crypts
On November 22, the Gertrudenfriedhof cemetery in Güstrow will open its doors for the Autumn Moon Night. On this evening, the mauosleen and crypts on the cemetery wall are the focus of this event, which is organized by art historian Dr. Anja Kretschmer and the Ernst Barlach Foundation. In keeping with the following Sunday of the Dead, this event is intended as a sepulchral cultural and memorial journey. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can gain an overview of the diversity of historical burial culture on this evening in the foggy month of November. Lectures will be given by the Gruft Research Center on the magnificent mausoleums, which will be opened especially for this evening. In this context, the mystical glow of candles and illuminated graves will give visitors an understanding of burial culture, concepts of death and tomb symbols in the 19th century.
