Reading and Discussion on November 3, 2026, at the Stralsund City Library The Stralsund City Library invites you to a reading with Austrian author Johanna Sebauer. On November 3, 2026, she will present her new novel, “Popóm,” which was published in July 2026 by DuMont Buchverlag. Stefanie Jarantowski will moderate the event.
Here’s what the book is about:
Hendrik Popom had imagined his late twenties would be different: his job at the agency is just plodding along, and his relationship is in crisis. Then suddenly a man appears who seems astonishingly familiar to Hendrik: Popóm. He’s almost twice as old—and yet Hendrik knows: This man is me. At times the two interact like brothers, at others like rivals, and then again like mirror images who can’t stand each other.
With intelligence, humor, and deep emotion, Johanna Sebauer tells of the longing for closeness in an age of isolation and the search for a life that is truly one’s own.
