An exhibition on the motif of musicians and poets in the work of the sculptor, graphic artist and draughtsman Gerhard Marcks.
The exhibition curated by the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus Bremen is dedicated to the theme of "Musicians and Poets". The extensive oeuvre of the sculptor, graphic artist and draughtsman Gerhard Marcks (1889-1981) includes numerous sculptures, drawings and graphics depicting people making music. The mythological singer and poet Orpheus also played an important role for Marcks, who wrote poetry himself: he dedicated an impressive series of woodcuts to him in 1947/48.
