Announcement of the Low German word of the year 2026

This year, the Heimatverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V. and the Fritz-Reuter-Literaturmuseum Stavenhagen are once again looking for the "Low German word of the year". From March 1, 2026, all Low German fans will be invited to submit their suggestions in the following categories

• the Low German word of the year;
• the best current Low German expression (a new creation, so to speak)
• the favorite idiom or proverb.

The Low German word will be officially announced on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in Stavenhagen Castle, together with the award ceremony for the winners.
