The Association for the Palliative Turn (APT) is dedicated to the palliative turn in and for the arts. Using an experimental and humorous approach, APT applies the principles of palliative care to the current crises facing civilization.
The Association for the Palliative Turn was founded in 2020 by artist Olav Westphalen (b. 1963) and brings together an international group of cultural practitioners. Working in various media and formats, the members explore artistic approaches to saying goodbye, offering comfort, and addressing transience. In doing so, they draw on humor, generosity, a zest for life, and deep reflection. In their work, the human body naturally becomes the central means of expressing life.
