Singing folk songs together with historian and musician Ralf Gehler and friends.
When traveling through other countries, you hear locals singing their folk songs more often than you do here. With great ease and, in some cases, out of deep conviction, they sing their traditional songs spontaneously and in unison. Anyone who would like to sing traditional songs again, just as freely and together with others, is invited to join in.
Folklorist, musicologist, and dance musician Ralf Gehler from the Center for Traditional Music e.V. enjoys celebrating the rich song culture in our country and our region. He is well-versed in music history. At this event, he will sing German folk songs and traditional songs from Mecklenburg together with enthusiastic singers and museum visitors who drop by spontaneously. Ralf Gehler plays many instruments, such as the bagpipes, mandolin, and accordion... Handouts with song lyrics for singing along will be provided.
Guests pay only the museum admission fee. There is no additional charge for this event. Ask at the museum ticket office for the event location!
TIP: September 4–6: Windros Festival—traditional music from Mecklenburg and Europe—among farmhouses and barns, in gardens and orchard meadows at the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum.
