Mortimer finds it difficult to make friends. So he tries to find followers on YouTube. Sara is also alone because she had to flee the war in her home country. Afraid she will have to go back there, she hides in an uninhabited house where an injured baby dragon lands.
Eleven-year-old Sara lost her family in the war. She now lives in refugee accommodation in the small town of Borington. But when a man from her home country is deported, she is overcome with fear and runs away. She finds shelter in a house whose inhabitants have gone on Christmas vacation.
Suddenly there is a bang, a window in the cellar shatters and strange noises come from the corner. It sounds like gurgling, grumbling and crying. Sara builds a trap and is amazed when she finds an injured baby dragon inside. But the two are soon discovered: by Mortimer, a boy from the neighborhood who wants to be a YouTube star but usually doesn't get more than ten likes. Fortunately, Mortimer's father is a dragon fan and owns countless books about these creatures.
This is how the children find out that dragons that visit our world can grant wishes. And from those who help them. Mortimer's wish to attract countless followers with a dragon video, however, puts the defenseless animal in great danger ... (Barnsteiner Film)
