On Friday, May 29, 2026, Stralsund Central Station will be the meeting place for everyone who is passionate about the rail industry. Passengers, railroad fans, families and anyone who is curious are cordially invited to this special day full of impressions, encounters and experiences.
VMV - Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mbH, ODEG - Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH, DB Regio AG, Region Nordost and other partners will be celebrating mobility in our region and showing how versatile and forward-looking mobility by rail can be. The event will be opened by Dr. Wolfgang Blank, Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Employment of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Visitors can expect a family-friendly program with lots of hands-on activities and special experiences. Children can look forward to free candy floss, rides on the train simulator and a real highlight: a ride on the historic piglet cab. The day will be accompanied by live music from singer-songwriter ÖXL, a fashion show of historical and modern railroad uniforms, a lost property auction and dancing by the Mönchgut traditional costume group from the Island of Rügen. There will also be plenty for young and old to discover, try out and experience.
You can look forward to a lively railroad festival on the Baltic Sea coast that is fun, brings people together and creates enthusiasm for mobility by rail. The day also offers exciting insights and new ideas for anyone interested in career prospects in the rail industry. So there are many good reasons to come along.
