The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Youth Jazz Orchestra provides an ideal platform for the most talented young jazz musicians.
The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Youth Jazz Orchestra (LaJazzO M-V) brings together talented young musicians from all over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With a diverse program featuring jazz classics, modern arrangements, and original compositions, the big band regularly delights audiences at concerts throughout the state.
Saxophonist Katharina “Tini” Thomsen has performed with the German National Jazz Orchestra, among others, and has collaborated with groups such as the NDR Big Band, the Metropole Orkest, and Nils Landgren’s Funk Unit. In addition to numerous productions, she has released ten albums of her own since 2014.
In 2022 and 2023, Thomsen temporarily traded the stage for a sheep pasture—and discovered that herding sheep and leading a band have surprisingly much in common.
