Reading and Discussion with Marit Heuß

Marit Heuß’s debut poetry collection is dedicated to the perception of reality: from the Wissow cliffs to the coast of Portugal. This perspective is shaped by her readings and artistic experiences, as well as by historical traces of memory inscribed in the landscape. An Italian palazzo—a “charming place” that has seen better days, with barred pathways and eerie lizards—gives the poetry collection its title: “Verschlissenes Idyll” (Worn-Out Idyll).

Marit Heuß, born in 1984 in Saxony, lives in Leipzig. She studied German language and literature and art history in Dresden and earned her doctorate in German language and literature at the University of Leipzig. In 2025, her debut poetry collection, “Verschlissenes Idyll,” was published by poetenladen Verlag in Leipzig.
