On May 30 and 31, the 6th Beach Tournament in Jugger will be held in the Strand Arena Warnemünde! Teams from all over Germany and guests from Denmark will be coming to play this popular tournament on sand.
Jugger is a modern sport that is often described as a mixture of fencing and rugby. The players duel with pompfen, which are built by the players themselves. The basic building blocks are usually carbon, pool noodles and tape. The aim of the game is to grab the jugg (cue ball) with the qwik (runner) and stick it into the opponent's mark (goal) to score a point. The other players have to defend their own Qwik and stop the opponent's Qwik. The game ends as soon as one team reaches a certain number of points - usually 8 or 10 points, but often several sets are played up to 5.
Jugger combines the speed and accuracy of fencing with the teamwork and interaction of rugby. It also involves a lot of tactics and strategy. Our sport is mixed-gender and is characterized by a high level of diversity. There are many different roles on the field and therefore there is a suitable place for every size and stature!
If Jugger sparks your interest, check it out this weekend. On Saturday evening you will have the opportunity to pick up a pompfen and try out Jugger for yourself!
