After two very successful concert projects, the Rügen Island Orchestra (RIO) is forming for the third time: over 50 highly motivated players from all over Germany are once again expected to offer a varied symphonic program. If you are unable to attend on the day of the concert (August 3, 5 p.m.), you can attend the public dress rehearsal the day before (August 2, 7 p.m.). The concert will open with the fast-paced overture from the opera "Ruslan and Lyudmila" by Mikhail Glinka. With the atmospheric and haunting violin concerto by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, the orchestra will take its audience into the late romanticism of Northern Europe (soloist: Gustav Frielinghaus), before performing a classic in the best sense of the word with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. The organizers have also come up with something very special for this year: the concert will be complemented by a specially commissioned work for the Rügen Island Orchestra (RIO) - the "RIO Anthem" by Jan Breuers from Frankfurt am Main.
