What might the “classical” symphony sound like from a composer who, for a long time, could not even imagine “how anyone could still be interested in Mozart’s simple harmonies”? Find out for yourself! After all, Sergei Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony, along with his First Violin Concerto—composed around the same time—marked the beginning of a great career. Leokadia Kaschperowa, too, dreams of this—as a teacher, pianist, and composer. In the early 19th century, her works—including her only symphony—were performed and published throughout Europe. But after revolutions and wars, her name was quickly forgotten—it’s time to change that!
